Booking Terms and Conditions
By making a booking at Jack’s Cottage, you will be confirming that you accept and will abide by all the terms and conditions given on this page:
Guests and Occupancy
The cottage sleeps a maximum of 2 adults in one bedroom.
Check in and check out
Check in is from 4pm on the day of arrival unless otherwise notified.
The code for the Key Safe to enable you to 'self check in' and access the cottage will be sent to you by e-mail together with other helpful information before you arrive.
Check out is by 10am on the day of departure.
We regret early check ins or later departures will not be possible.
Payment and Cancellation Policy
A £75 deposit is required on confirmation of booking for either 1 or 2 adults with the balance one month in advance of your arrival date.
If the balance is not received on request, the booking is forfeited, and the deposit non refundable unless we are able to rebook the dates.
Payments can be made either by direct bank transfer (preferred) or by cheque. Details on confirmation of booking.
We will refund in full if your booking is affected by National Lockdowns or we have to cancel your stay due to any unforeseen circumstances.
Guest cancellations for any other reason (including Covid-19) remain at your risk, and do not give rise to a right to cancel or to receive a refund unless we are able to rebook the dates. We therefore strongly advise that you take out your own UK holiday insurance, including cover for Covid-19, which is available from a number of insurance companies, to cover the cost of your stay in the event of cancellation.
If you choose not to take out UK travel insurance, then you accept responsibility for any loss that you may incur due to you cancelling your booking.
Bookings made through online platforms (AirBnB and VRBO) are subject to their cancellation policies at the time of booking.
Pets
Guests may bring a maximum of 2 well behaved dogs as confirmed at the time of booking or through subsequent notification prior to arrival.
An additional £25 is charged per stay.
Pets must be house trained, clean, up to date with flea prevention treatment and well behaved.
Pets must never be left unattended at any time in the cottage. Because of the rural nature of the cottage, Pest Control measures are in place in difficult to access locations downstairs.
Pets are not allowed upstairs or on any of the furniture in the property. Please keep the door at the bottom of the stairs closed to prevent access upstairs. Guests must bring their own pet beds or similar.
Pets must be clean and dry at all times while inside the property.
We cannot accept responsibility for the safety of pets.
No sign of the pet must be evident in the property or garden at the time of departure.
Any damages by the pet must be declared before departure (by text, email or phone call as listed in the Welcome Leaflet). Any damages not so declared but deemed to incur an additional charge will be notified within 7 days.
The Cottage
Jack's Cottage is strictly No Smoking. Smoking, vaping and e-cigarettes are not permitted in either the cottage or garden.
New Fire Regulations prohibit the use of candles and tea lights which are therefore no longer allowed and may not be used or lit.
Babies in arms welcome, but the stone flagged floors and steep stairs do not make the cottage really suitable for toddlers.
The steep staircase has handrails all the way up but means the cottage is not suitable for those with restricted mobility.
A travel cot and high chair are available on request (please bring your own cot bedding).
All bedding and towels and kitchen linens are provided.
To comply with latest Fire Regulations (2023), all rooms have appropriate smoke/heat/carbon monoxide alarms and the cottage electrical circuit and appliances have passed the necessary Electrical Safety tests to comply with new regulations (2023). Electrical appliances, other than laptops and phone chargers, should not be brought into the cottage without prior consent.
Electric Vehicles
Unfortunately it is not possible to charge an electric vehicle while staying at Jack's Cottage. Recent legislation requires a dedicated EV circuit and charging point with mandatory safety protocols in place to prevent electrical malfunctions and fire risk. This is not installed at the cottage and an extension cable from the internal domestic socket is not permitted as this is a fire risk and will invalidate our Insurance Cover.
Please click here to locate the nearest EV charging points in Buxton.
General Terms
We cannot accept responsibility for any injury, loss or accidents, personal or otherwise, whilst staying at Jack’s Cottage.
Our website has an SSL certificate and displays the Secure Green Padlock in the address bar allowing you to navigate our site over a secure encrypted connection.
By contacting us via our own website or third parties who list Jack's Cottage as a bookable holiday accommodation, you are giving us your consent to be contacted by us in connection with your enquiry or booking. We will only use your contact details (email, address, phone numbers provided to us) in connection with your enquiry or booking.
Risk Assessments and Cleaning Protocols available on request. Paper copies available in the cottage.
Covid-19
All guests must adhere to the current Covid recommendations whilst staying at Jack's Cottage.
The legal requirement to self isolate following a positive test ended on Thursday 24th February 2022. However, we ask our guests to follow all recommended Government advice and exercise personal responsibility if displaying symptoms, to minimise risks to themselves and others and help reduce the spread of infection.
We will continue with all our infection control measures and best-practice Covid-secure cleaning between guest stays and provide hand sanitiser on the table inside the cottage.
